I began making jewelry while I was an art student. I was
on break, and needed a creative outlet that was stress free,
something that I didn't do while I was in school. I had a
wonderful art professor who had high expectations of his
students. We were expected not only to produce quality work,
but we were expected to be prolific as well. I made so many
pieces that I needed to find a way to sell them in order
to continue to make jewelry.
The quality of my craftsmanship has improved through a logical
progression. I first started by stringing plastic beads onto
stretch cord, then glass beads onto stretch cord. I then
went to the next step by upgrading to glass and plated toggle
clasps, then glass with sterling silver clasps, and so on.
Most of my pieces are now made with gemstones, freshwater
pearls, fabulous Swarovski crystals, and sterling silver.
I have both long and short term goals set for my artwork
and myself. I have learned a great deal since I've begun,
and still have more to learn about jewelry making!
